A small change. A little less waste. If you opened your Baan Thip order and wondered where the disposable utensils, straws or condiment packets were, don't worry — we didn't forget them. New Jersey has introduced rules designed to reduce unnecessary single-use waste at restaurants. As a result, certain disposable items are no longer automatically included with restaurant orders and are provided according to the state's request requirements. At Baan Thip, we're doing our part to follow these requirements while making sure you still have what you need to enjoy your meal. ## Need utensils or other items? We're always happy to help. When placing your order, please request the utensils, straws or condiment items you actually need. Depending on how your order is placed and the type of item requested, New Jersey's rules determine when and how restaurants may provide these items. If you're enjoying your meal at home and already have utensils available, simply skip them. Take what you need. Leave what you don't. It's a small change, but when thousands of meals are served every day, those small choices can add up. ## What does the New Jersey rule cover? New Jersey's single-use restaurant requirements address several common items: Disposable utensils — such as forks, knives, spoons and similar single-use eating utensils. Condiment packets — individual packets of items such as sauces and other condiments. Plastic straws — available according to New Jersey's request-only requirements. Napkins are different. NJDEP specifically states that napkins are not included in these particular utensil and condiment restrictions. ## Why is New Jersey doing this? The goal is simple: reduce waste by giving people single-use items only when they actually need them. NJDEP says food orders will no longer automatically include certain single-use utensils, condiment packets and plastic straws. The state's guidance encourages customers to request only what they need and restaurants to reduce unnecessary distribution of disposable products. We think that's something worth supporting.
